Front panels |
 |
 |
 |
The front panel has several LEDs which display the units status and notify you as to its activity.
- Power LED
When the unit is powered up the power LED will be lit continuously. If the power LED is flashing then it indicates a problem with the CPU.
- Ethernet LED
The Activity and Link LEDs indicate network connectivity and activity. The Link LED will light up when there is a network connection present. The activity LED will flash when there is network traffic being sent or received by the unit.
- Status / Online LEDs
These are numbered 1 – 8. They are used to indicate the connectivity status of the sensors connected to each port. These LEDs also can be used to indicate system status when undertaking various operations.
1. The LEDs will indicate the progress of an upgrade. The red LEDs will move from left to right to indicate activity, and the green LEDs will indicate overall progress of the upgrade. When all the red lights are off and all green are on the upgrade / recovery process is complete.
2. These lights will indicate if the unit is operating in safe mode. This is when the unit loads the Operating System (OS) with a minimal set of drivers.
3. The unit may enter recovery mode if a firmware upgrade has been incomplete. This will be indicated by the unit displaying a continuously lit row of red LEDs.
- Mic
The mic is a small hole for access to the internal microphone. This can be used as a sound sensor (or an external mic can be used)
- Expansion Ports There are four expansion ports numbered from E1 – E4. These are expansion Ports for connecting either the 8port expansion or 16 dry contact expansion modules.

 |
Rear panels |
 |
 |
 |
The rear panel of the unit is home to various ports and connections. The functions of these are as follows :
- Reset button. The black tact switch button is used to perform the following functions 1. A single press will announce the IP address of the unit. This is audible through the internal speaker. It also broadcasts the IP address to the IPset program. 2. Turns off password checking when accessing the web based interface (hold down for 7 seconds) 3. To reboot the unit into the firmware upgrade mode (hold down for 12 seconds)
- Video input. There are 4 video inputs (V1 - V4). These are used to connect a PAL/NTSC camera using BNC 750 hm 30 Au jack. If you wish to connect a PTZ camera the 4 two pin terminal blocks labeled PT1 – PT4 can be used to connect the cameras via a pelco –D protocol.
- Sensor ports There are 8 RJ45 ports numbered from 1 – 8. These are for connecting AKCP intelligent sensors to the unit.
- USB ports The unit is equipped with two USB 1.1 ports. These can be used, for example, to connect a USB GPRS/GSM compatible modem, a USB WiFi dongle or USB Bluetooth dongle.
- Mic Out This is used to connect an external microphone for voice modem applications.
- Audio in / out The in is used to connect an external microphone, the output for external speakers.
- RS485 Port Used for Modbus connectivity. We support Modbus master or slave.
- Power Connector This is a 7.5V DC plug. We recommend you using a 7.0 – 9 V, 2.5 A power supply.
- Ethernet Port This RJ45 port is used to connect your unit to the network.
- PTZ Connections The 4 PTZ connections (PT1-4) can be used to connect the PTZ function of a Pan Tilt Zoom / Pan Tilt camera, such as the AKCP Pan Tilt Dome Camera.
- External ground The EXT. GND can be used to external ground the unit.

Connect up to 4 external analogue cameras |
 |
The securityProbe 5E can display pictures from four
cameras simultaneously in several sizes, up to 640x480
pixels resolution.
Analogue cameras are the kind used in professional
surveillance and CCTV monitoring systems. Built-in
pan-tilt controller interface allows complete control of pan
and tilt cameras using the industry standard Pelco-D bus. |

False Message Filter |
 |
| In order to prevent false alarms, the AKCP securityProbe 5E
allows extensive filtering of events. You can limit events
based on the time of day or the day of the week. You can
also limit the number of alerts per hour, so that you are not
swamped with messages. This is especially important with
the sensor like the motion detector where you may want to
process an event only when the business premises are
closed. |
 |
Sensor Integration & Notification System |
 |
Up to 8 of AKCP’s intelligent sensors can be plugged into the RJ-45 ports of the securityProbe 5E. Once inserted, the sensor automatically configures itself and goes online. Using the either the 8 port intelligent sensor, or the 16 port extra dry contact expansion modules, up to 600 sensors can be connected to a single unit. Our easy-to-use web based interface allows you to setup the securityProbe 5E within minutes. When online, the sensors use their 4 levels of threshold checking and report any status change.
Notifications and alarms can be dependent on the states of multiple sensors, and can be configured to escalate in severity over time.
The notification system can alert you of a problem via email, SMS messages and telephone calls, (additional hardware required), or send a message to any commercial network monitoring system using SNMP traps. The securityProbe 5E can automatically switch a relay on or off, wake-up or shutdown a remote server, send pictures and data via FTP, send a FAX, run your custom script and many more versatile functions.
Email alerts can include a picture taken at the time of the event. All of the events are stored in the systems internal database; 23 pictures per event per camera can be recorded.

Event details include the time and the sensor which triggered the event along with the sensor readings. The database can be easily reviewed using our built-in web based analysis system. All of the pictures are time stamped. The securityProbe's system log can be integrated with third party tools for storage and examination. |

Sensor Graphing |
 |
| The securityProbe 5E integrates and displays graphs of all sensor data in its web-based user interface. The individual graph (day, week, month and year) for each sensor type can be customized, simply by modifying the script template used to generate a particular graph. RRD tool is used to build an embedded database of sensor data. This data can be accessed from the web interface, or downloaded to a remote PC. MRTG can be used to generate real-time graphs of sensor data on a remote website |
